Restoration Ministry Groups

We at Restoration have collectively chosen to re-create ourselves into “ministry groups” so that each member of our church family could participate in the ministry of Restoration. We have committed ourselves to create a community where each of us can share our gifts, develop new talents, new skills, discover ourselves in new ways, establish new relationships, and deepen already existing relationships with one another as we unearth a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist and a member of the UU Church of the Restoration in Mt. Airy.

These Ministries are listed below along with their mission statements:

Growth Ministry

Mission: The mission of the Growth Ministry is to increase Restoration’s church membership and overall active participation of church members. We aim to accomplish this through consistent outreach initiatives, welcoming fellowship, and a caring congregational climate that promotes inter-connectedness.

Imperative: Growth of our Congregation

Multicultural/Anti-Oppression Ministry

Mission: To promote the acceptance of the multi-cultural aspects of The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration by providing an inclusive environment through communication and interaction with diverse groups within the congregation and the wider community.
To practice anti-racism and anti-oppression in our thought, language, behavior, and structure, by developing an awareness of these divisive forces and how they impact our lives.
To create a welcoming congregation embracing people of all gender identifications and sexual orientations.
To create an accessible environment to accommodate all levels of physical and mental abilities.

Imperative: Creating Accessibility and Promoting Multicultural/Anti-Oppression Awareness and Participation.

Religious Exploration Ministry

Mission:

Imperative: Multi-generational Religious Education with an emphasis on Children, Youth, and Young Adults

Social Justice & Community Action Ministry

Mission: To work for peace and justice in our local community, and also on key issues of national and global importance, in accordance with our UU principles.

Imperative: Community Involvement

Theological Diversity Ministry

Mission: To promote and sustain the philosophical and religious diversity of the UUCR ministry, within a framework of respect for all traditions.
